The new security policies for passwords are:
· the password must be a minimum of 6 characters and must contain at least one number, one alphabetic character and one special character
· the password must not contain the user’s id, surname or first name
· the new password must not be the same as the previous password and must not be an incremental count from the previous password — eg. Special_1 cannot be followed by Special_2
· users that have forgotten their password will be able to request a computer generated password which will be emailed and then, once they’ve logged in using it, they will be required to change it.
